Joint Training Operations on Sydney Harbour
When not actually assisting the public, Marine Rescue crews must continuously train in all aspects of search and rescue and seamanship. This is essential not only to maintain accreditation, but also to ensure we can deliver a safe and professional standard of service to the public even in the most adverse conditions.
- Middle Harbour 30 tows a disabled bowrider back to its mooring.
- Middle Harbour & Port Jackson crews practising towing drills at Rose Bay
- Middle Harbour 30 manoeuvres alongside another vessel during training.
- Crew practise traditional navigation as an essential SAR skill.
- Trainee learns to operate MH30s pumping system
Every weekend our crews hone their navigation and seamanship skills and conduct emergency drills. Whenever possible we also team up with vessels from Port Jackson unit to conduct towing exercises and multi-vessel search and rescue manoeuvres. By continuously practising these skills, our crews become highly proficient at rendering assistance to vessels in difficulty.
