The following pictures show a recent training drill performed by the members of Delta Watch, Marine Rescue Middle Harbour, focused around end to end incident management. These drills are essential in keeping our emergency response teams skills at the highest level possible. Each drill starts and ends in an incident advice being received, a crew briefing and risk analysis being undertaken and a debrief after the emergency response has been completed. This ensures the continuous improvement cycle is undertaken, operational errors identified and process improvements implemented.
This particular exercise, required the location of a ‘person-overboard’, whose location was only loosely known, using our Forward Looking InfraRed (FLIR) camera which can be used to find a heat source (in this case, our training dummy ‘BOB’), the recovery of the person on board, the treatment of any symptoms evident using advanced First Aid and Resuscitation (if necessary) and the transport of the person to an Ambulance med-evac location at the Marine Rescue Middle Harbour.
